eatCentral is essentially an affiliate of Sanitarium, selling virtual Sanitarium products in a simulated workplace environment - a practice firm.

To work at eat Central is to learn something new every day, to improve on your communication skills and to learn to work as team. All the skills we learn here are - in one way or another - vital to life outside campus, and more importantly, to the workplace.

This form of learning is far more beneficial than a standard lecture, as we don't just put to memory what we have learnt, but we put it into practice.

How does it work?

Basically, we have been put into four groups that will rotate through various departments: Human Resources, Sales and Marketing, Administration and Finance.  We all apply for a position in our specific department, just as we would if we were in the workplace.  Once we have been accepted to our various positions we go about the role for the next four weeks.  This process is repeated for each of the four departments. 

The many tasks we are involved in include:

1. Sending and recieving invoices and delivery notes

2. Creating and sending regular catalogues

3. General administration

4. Recieving and making payments

5. Payroll

6. Regular staff surveys and quizzes

7. Employee of the week

8. Answering and directing phone calls

On the whole every member of eatCentral Practice Firm thoroughly enjoys attending and is learning a great deal.  It really is one of those situations where you only get out of it what you put into it.
